Welcome to the website of the First Iowa Orff Chapter! Located in Cedar Falls, our chapter includes public and private music teachers from throughout Northeast Iowa.
First Iowa Orff is a local chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association, a professional association dedicated to the training of music and movement teachers, using a philosophy which started with Carl Orff and his protégé, Gunild Keetman over half a century ago.
Orff Schulwerk is based on a process (imitation, exploration, and creation), and a variety of media (speech, song, recorders, pitch percussion, untuned percussion, body percussion, and movement). Orff teachers have a wide variety of individual styles and methods of teaching, yet all believe in the creative potential of students!
Our local chapter presents three workshops every year, on Saturdays in October, January, and April. For more information, click on our events page.
